Decorating tips – Chocolate Leaves

I love using this quick trick to spruce up cakes, tortes, brownies and other decadent desserts.  Trust me, chocolate leaves aren’t as hard to make as they look!  It’s as easy as 1,2,3! 

  1. Select & clean the leaves.  It is so important to select sturdy leaves with side rims, preventing chocolate from spilling over.  Wash the leaves with soap and water. Pat completely dry with paper towels.     



Get creative, select leaves with different sizes and shapes.  I like my heart leaf.. perfect for Valentine’s day, girl hangouts and date evenings!



2. Melt Chocolate & paint leaves.  Evenly break up chocolate pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl.  Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, 30 seconds, and stir.  Repeat until all of the chocolate has melted.  (Tip – never use a damp, just washed bowl to melt chocolate in.  Water ruins the melting process in the microwave.)

After chocolate has melted, carefully paint leaves with knife. Make sure to put a thick layer, otherwise light will shine through the leaves.  Place on plate and refrigerate for 5 minutes.

3.  Hold the stem and peal the leaf off.  Add to a tasty treat of your choice.
