Deborah

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12.  Over the last two months I have been corresponding with a woman to set up a “Cooking For Christ” demonstration on May 23.  It was only yesterday when I arrived at Parkhall Integrated Junior College that I realized I had been planning an event with a 21 year old lady named Deborah.  First Timothy 4:12 perfectly describes Deborah’s life.  Deborah organized a special event in order to reach out to the community and share the faith that she so genuinely possesses.  We can’t expect nonbelivers to come to church, but we can go to them and share our passion for Christ in everyday life.  We had the perfect environment last night with background music, a cooking demonstration intertwined with a Biblical lesson, an artsy outlet, a spread of scrumptious goodies to eat and great “party” guests.  About 50 people gathered from a broad range of ten-year-old girls to women in their 70’s and 80’s, and from a broad spectrum of life – neighbors, co-workers, church members and school teachers.  Deborah made sure that the evening would be special with adorable pink tablecloths, fruit skewers, and butterfly cupcakes.  Deborah desired that her friends and family would hear about this love that she has for God, so she threw a “party.”  We can be inspired by her example “in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Deborah is passionate about children, education and the Bible.  At the end of the night there was a donation taken up for the Bible Education Services which reaches out to children across the world through posting Bible lessons and Bible questions in order to “tell the next generation of the wonders HE has done.”  You can check out their website at http://www.besweb.org/ to see how you can get involved reaching children around the world.
