Cooking in the Community

Over the last couple of weeks I have started two new cooking courses in the community center of Dunmurry, Northern Ireland.  Meeting several new people who live just down the street has certainly been the highlight for me.  The demonstrations are interactive, packed with cooking tips and full of fun.  The Basic Baking course is hands-on and perfect for parents to bring their children to.  What better way for parents to spend quality time with their kids, by baking with them!  I have enjoyed seeing people of all ages master recipes they have never made before and enjoy the whole process!

Cooking Demonstrations

Wednesdays 18:00 – 19:30; May 11th – June 15th

Skip the Chinese take-away, and attend this six week course of cooking demonstrations to learn how to cook or to improve your cooking skills.  These interactive demonstrations will be seasoned with great recipes like: roasted chicken breast with creamy butternut squash, mushroom risotto and red pepper bistro chicken twist, and pecan tassies.  Watch your own personal cooking demonstration to learn how to prepare delightful dishes for family & friends, and to discover quick tips to spruce up any meal.  There will be a taste testing at the end and free recipe cards from the displayed dish of the evening. Tuition: £2 per person per demo

Basic Baking 101

Thursdays 15:30 – 17:30; May 12th – June 16th

At the end of this six week course, every participant will be able to whip up magnificent muffins, fresh bread, New York cheesecakes, fudge brownies, and tempting truffles.  This hands-on course will increase your confidence in the kitchen by baking mouthwatering sweets which are sure to please any guest.  Each class brings personal satisfaction, not only by learning how to bake, but also by tasting the sweet creations at the end.  Each person gets to take home their own baked goods.  No previous experience in baking is necessary to join this course.  Don’t forget to bring your apron!Tuition: 3£ per person per lesson
