Nourishing Food

God made food to nourish and sustain us.  He also made food for us to enjoy.  I certainly enjoy eating the variety of food that God has given us – and I know you do too!

In the New Testament in John 6:35, Jesus says “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Jesus compares himself to bread.  Floury, white, fluffy bread.  Jesus is our daily bread.  He nourishes us.  He sustains us.  And guess what, we can enjoy our relationship with him too!

After eating today, we will be hungry again tomorrow.  Everything on this side of earth is temporary.  Relationships with people.  Meals that we enjoy.  Money that we spend.  Health that fades with time.  But Jesus fills that hunger, that desire within us for more than this world offers.  He is the only Satisfying food available.  He quenches our hunger & thirst with His loving grace that He pours into our daily lives.

This week I spent some time at two churches: First Lisburn Presbyterian and Muckamore Presbyterian outside of Antrim City.  At least two ladies this week decided that they want to enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus.  Several women decided that they wanted to interact with Jesus on a daily basis in their own homes, cars, and kitchens.  Just like we can eat anywhere, we can enjoy talking with Jesus anywhere we are – we don’t have to be in church!
