A Simple Treat for a Valentine’s Sweet

When I think of Valentine’s treats, I always think of strawberries and chocolate.  This Greek Yogurt Chocolate Mouse topped with a strawberry and chocolate curls is a simple treat you can make for your sweetheart at Valentine’s or anytime of the year!

I made the chocolate mouse from Tori’s excellent blog “The Shiksa in the Kitchen.”  I then used a vegetable pealer to make chocolate curls and sliced a strawberry half way down the center.   To make a strawberry heart, I cut the green top off.  Made a “V” cut at the top and rounded off the top edges.  I then cut the strawberry in slices to make about 3-4 hearts per strawberry.

Another Sweet Treat is the moist, flavorful VALENTINE’S PASSION CAKE The Valentine’s Passion Cake is similar to a carrot cake, but it’s filled with other goodness.

Carrot Hearts for Chicken Noodle Soup

  1. Wash, peel, and rewash carrot.IMG_1427
  2. Using a knife, cut a “V” shape on the top of the carrot.IMG_1429
  3. Using the vegetable peeler, round off the top of the heart by peeling it once.IMG_1431
  4. Cut off the lower sides of the carrot making a sharp point at the bottom.IMG_1432
  5. Round off the sides with the vegetable peeler (if you’re a perfectionist!)IMG_1434

6. Slice the hearts. (It sounds terrible, I know)

7. Enjoy in a salad, soup or on their own for a healthy snack! These adorable hearts do not loose their shape after boiling in a yummy soup like this Chicken and noodle soup recipe from Canadian Living… I love their recipes!  Yipee for Canadians 🙂
